Inglourious Basterds, the war film directed by Quentin Tarantino can already allegedly be considered a classic. Inglourious Basterds, takes place during World War 2 while France was occupies by the Nazis. Inglourious Basters follows two time lines; one time line is a young French Jewish cinema proprietress living undercover after she has witnessed the death of her whole family and the second time line follows a band of American Jewish Soldiers, called the “Basterds”. The ultimate goal of both the young Jewish girl and the american basterds is to kill Adolf Hitler.
Inglourious Basterds was filmed in various locations in Germany and France and was released by Weinsterin Company and Universal Pictures in August 2009. Inglourious Basterds is the only american film to have won award at the 2009 Cannes Festivities; Christopher Waltz walked away with the best actor award.
Inglourious Basterds was extremely well received by audience and critics alike. The movie received praise from cirtics and made number 1 on it’s opening weekend in theater, giving Tarantino a new best.
Although, Inglourious Basters does not take place in the west, Tarintino describes it as a “spaghetti wester, with World War II iconography”.

The reknowned Tarantion, humour and graphic scenes are its best in Inglourious Basterds. Tarantino has truly mastered his art and has made a masterpiece with Inglourious Basterds.

In The Hangover, a group of four friends travel to Las Vegas to celebrate a bachelor party. It is a bachelor party each one of them, will never remember, and yet never forget the after math. Throughout their Hangover, the friends have one day to find the groom and piece together a night of fleeting memories before the wedding day.

LOST Season 5 DVD

LOST made its debut as a cult phenomenon in 2004 and since the very begining, certain things seemed inconceivable. In its fourth year, some of those things, like a rescue, came to pass. The season ended with Locke (Terry O’Quinn) attempting to persuade the Oceanic Six to return, but he dies before that can happen–or so it appears–and where Jack (Matthew Fox) used to lead, Ben (Emmy nominee Michael Emerson) now takes the reins and convinces the survivors to fulfill Locke’s wish.

As producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse state in their commentary on LOST’s fifth-season premiere, “We’re doing time travel this year,” and the pile-up of flashbacks and flash-forwards will make even the most dedicated fan dizzy. Ben, Jack, Hurley (Jorge Garcia), Sayid (Naveen Andrews), Sun (Yunjin Kim), and Kate (Evangeline Lilly) arrive to find that Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) have been part of the Dharma Initiative for three years. The writers also clarify the roles that Richard (Nestor Carbonell) and Daniel (Jeremy Davies) play in the island’s master plan, setting the stage for the prophecies of Daniel’s mother, Eloise Hawking (Fionnula Flanagan), to play a bigger part in the sixth and final season.

Many other characters come in and out of the equation, some never to return. A few, such as Jin (Daniel Dae Kim), make an appearance once again this year. Lost, even after five seasons, continues to excite and surprise. As Lindelof and Cuse admit in the commentary, there’s a “fine line between confusion and mystery,” adding, “it makes more sense if you’re drunk.” Other extras include deleted scenes, featurettes, a “lost” episode of Mysteries of the Universe, and commentary from writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz on “He’s Our You,” a reference to Sayid, who tries to change the future by changing the past.

Lost’s massive story full of plot twists, turns and time shifts in this brilliant fifth season. The DVD comes jam-packed with bonus material, including a revealing interview with the cast and an exclusive behind the scenes feature with Josh. Lost doesn’t get any better than this.

Dexter Morgan a blood splatter analyst who works for the Miami Metro Police Department, also happens to be a serial killer. Dexter the showtime drama series depicts the character Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under )through his day to day life trying to balance his normal job and family with his abnormal hobby.
Dexter, the show was strongly inspired by a series of Dexter novels written by Jeff Lindsay. After the success of Season 1 to 3, showtime awarded Dexter a fourth and fifth season.
With excellent actors such as Michael C. Hall, Julie Benz, Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington and Erik King Dexter has encountered its fair share of controversy. Part of Dexter’s core is the fact that the audience will take his side. Yes, Dexter is a serial killer, but he kills bad guys, and since that idea falls under the gray part of morality, Dexter does encounter criticism. Due to its sensitive matter, Dexter will not likely be aired on a Public network any time soon.
However Dexter does explore morality issues and does ask us to take a look at our selves. Dexter has recieved positive reviews from critics and audience a like.
Dexter is an excellent gift idea for the TV lover and is a wonderful addition to any collection!

Entourage (season 1 to 5)

Entourage, created by Doug Ellin follows Vinsent Chase and his childhood friends from New York trying to navigate the streets of Hollywood. Vincent Chase played by Adrian Grenier is a young movie star whos character is loosely based on Mark Wahlberg (co-producer) life as he tried to survive in the movie industry.

Entourage deals with themes of freiendship and the ever challanging life of people in Hollywood. The show has recieved many positive reviews and is still running strong and is set to begin it’s seventh season in September 2010.

Curb your Enthusiasm (season 1 to 6)

Ever wonder what Larry David did after leavingSeinfeld after season 7. Larry David took the Seinfeldhumor to another level. As the co-creator, producer and one of the main actors, playing himself, Larry David has created another hit with Curb your Enthusiasm.

Terminator Salvation is the foruth installment in the terminator series. Released in May 2009, Terminator Salvation takes place in 2018 after Skynet has taken control. The story foucses on the leader of the human, resistance, John Connor, played by Christian Bale, and Cyborg (half human/half machine) played by Sam Worthington. Terminator Salvation refrences the orginal Terminator movie, by showing the audiance a young Kyle Reese played by Anton Yelchin and also describes the origina of the T-800 Model.
Terminator Salvation is up to date the most expensive independent production. It was filmed in New Mexico, and had a 200$ million budget. Unfortunatly,Terminator Salvation did not recieve many good reviews, but it did earn 371$ million worldwide.
Although it did recieve less the favorable reviews. Terminator Salvation is an excellent addition to the series. It refrences the original movies and adds new dimension to the story. Every, Terminator and science fiction fan shough give it a chance.
Oh and did i mention the one and only Governor of California, Arnold Schwartznerger makes an apperance.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (or Night at the museum 2) was relased in theaters on May 22, 2009. Staring Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Robin Williams, Amy Adams and Hank Azaria, Night at the Musem: Battle of the Smithsonian recieved mixed reviews from critics at the time of its relase. It was not only criticized for an excessive use of spcial effects but some of the acting was also picked apart (with the exception of Amy Adams and Hank Azaria).
Nevertherless, the film enjoyed public sucess. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian’s revues surpased those of the first Night at the Museumand it won the award for best comedy and the teen choice awards.
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is a good light hearted movie to watch comfortably on your couch during the long winter nights.

Angels & Demons

Angels & Demons, directed by Ron Howard and staring Tom Hanks (as Robert Langdon) and Ewan McGregor is the movie version of Dan Brown’s novel by the same name, Angels and DemonsFor the films Angels & Demons is the sequel to The Da Vinci Code, even though it is the opposite for the books. The movie recieved mixed reviews from critics and fans, but still enjoyed great success. it was the top grossing film of the year till the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Just like The Da Vinci Code Angels & Demons also enjoyed its share of contraversy due to its religious subject matter.
Packed with Action, beautiful images of Rome and Vatican City, non-stop intrigue and mystery, Angels & Demons will keep your eyes fixed on the screen till the end.

Julie & Julia

Julie & Julia juxstaposes the story of Julia Child during her early years as a chef and the story of Julie Powell who aims to cook every Julia Child recipie during the course of a year. The Comedy-drama directed by Nora Ephron, stars Meryl Streep and Amy Adams and was official released for theaters on July 30, 2009.
Julie & Julia was based on two different sources. The movie combined Julia Child’s autobiography, My Life in France as well as a blog written by Julie Powel that was later re-worked and published as a book, Julie/ Julia Project : 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Kitchen: How One Girl Risked Her Marriage, Her Job and Her Sanity to Master the Art of Living. The blog documented Julie Powell’s experiences cooking all of Julia Child’s recepies. Julie & Julia becomes the first motion picture to be based on a blog.
Julie & Julia recieved good reviews and opened at number 2 behind G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
A great movie to curl up with and it might just inspire to start baking… great for the holiday season.
